#130 Whalehaven Cabernet Franc 2015
Inland Whales
An iconic Helderberg (Stellenbosch) Cabernet Franc experiencing some delightful return to critical favour. The 2015 vintage finished in the coveted Top Six for the 2020 Cabernet Franc Challenge, despite sporting what one might think was a whopping 15.5% alcohol (it doesn’t taste whopping).

🔬Helderberg fruit. 100% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were cold soaked for 4 days before fermentation. Malolactic conversion took place in barrel, with maturation (12 months) taking place in a mix of French (60%) and American (40%) oak. 35% New oak.

It’s very old school, but I kinda like it. Sometimes some lovely rich oak is just what one needs to feel fancy.
An absolute winner.
Medium bodied; great on a warm spring evening.
Glad it hit the spot! You had any other great Cab francs recently?
