#144 van loggerenberg Break a leg blanc de noir 2020
Lukas Van Loggerenberg on ‘serious rosé’
Lukas Van Loggerenburg released the Break a Leg range of wines for folk who aren’t ready to spend ZAR300 or more on his top tier wines. He was aiming to deliver a smidgen of good value in the R150 per bottle zone, but it should be noted that he dramatically overshot the mark. Hooray for us.
👃🏼 Vanguard carried a serious nose of salted farm butter, stony flint, gravel dust, fresh baked bread, rasberries and strawberries.
👄 In contrast to the solemn flinty, stony vanguard, the palate shows gentle sweet cherry and strawberry fruit, with delightfully zingy raspberry acidity and zesty orange rind elements on the tail. 🔬 100% Stellenbosch cinsault from Rustenhof farm. Fruit is from 29-year-old bush vines overlooking False Bay. Two thirds are fermented in old oak.
