#150 Cape Collective Cabernet Franc 2020
A Cabernet made by any other name…
The wine industry is a funny place. Even though the stellar guys from Cape Collective know very well who made this wine, they’re not allowed to tell anyone. Which is weird, because this Stellenbosch Cabernet Franc really is something to be proud of! But then again, if a winemaker conventionally sells his red wines for, say R500 per bottle, and then produces a Cabernet Franc for roughly R200 per bottle, it can be perceived to be diluting the brand, which potentially explains the mystery here.
🔬Cabernet Franc fruit is sourced from the Polkadraai and Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch. Both primary fermentation and malolactic conversion occur spontaneously. Wine kept on gross lees in 225L French oak for 16 months.
