#166 Sanniesrust Pinotage 2019
The Politics of Grape Ripeness in the Pinotage Debate
—
🧑🏻🌾 Another delightfully balanced wine from Sanniesrust winemaker Pieter van der Merwe, continuing to deliver refreshingly honest wines that aren’t weird to drink. In the raging debate between Pintoge-classic and Pinotage-Nouveau, this bottle walks the line as well as Johny on his best day.

🔬 Fruit is all from Stellenbosch, and spends 24 months in old oak. Leading to plenty of silk on the palate without plenty of oaky characteristics. Platter 2021 scored it at 92.
