=====================
Green Peppers have been banned Forthwith
The marketing team from Moreson Estate are quite clear about their feelings over MethoxyPyrazines in wine (the group of chemicals responsible for aromas of capsicum / bell pepper in cultivars like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc). When talking of their Cabernet Franc, they declare: “Green Peppers have been banished forthwith.” Now while this exclusionary attitude closes more doors than it opens, their single-minded doggedness does allow for the perfect opportunity to express a decidedly New-World, Warm-climate expression of Cabernet Franc, creating a stark contrast with what Loire fanatics might be used to. And contrast makes everything more interesting. Partially because it gives one the opportunity to really get to grips with what ripeness and a warmer climate can produce in this terroir-sensitive grape.
It should almost be prescribed reading to drink a ripe 15% ABV example like this Franschhoek beastie alongside a Cab Franc from the more elevated Banghoek, for example.

TASTING NOTES
👃🏼 – Vanguard carries Strawberry preserve, plum, blackcurrant pastilles, and a herbal minty freshness.
👄 – Palate is soft and fruit-laden, with pleasant weight. Berry preserve and black fruit candy present themselves upfront, but there is sufficient structure present to couch the ripe berry fruit. On the finish, some brighter cherry candy and raspberry sherbet vibrance continues to keep the sweeter fruit preserve notes in check.
🔬 – 100% Cabernet Franc. Wine of Origin Franschhoek. ABV 15%. Matured in mostly old oak.
💰- R230.00
