Spice Route Amos Block Perpetual Reserve Aged under Flor

HANSCORE: 22/25

📣Wine Geeks! Assemble!
🎥 Charles Back is the Christopher Nolan of South African wine. You can love him, hate him, accuse him of going commercial…but he is undoubtedly a pioneer that has changed the game for us all, and the projects he works on will forever remain on the “essential reading” list.

🤓 This little fino Sherry-style number is exactly the sort of thing I’m talking about. Harvested from South Africa’s oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines (dry land farmed bush vines planted in the Swartland in 1965), and vinified by @spiceroutepaarl winemaker Charl DuPlessis, the wine is referred to as “a perpetual reserve, aged under flor” (which is a fancy way of describing a mini solera system of three barrels).

🧐 As previously stated; this wine is essential reading for any South African wine lover. Order online from www.SpiceRouteWines.co.za

👃🏼  Vanguard carries notes of salted caramel, dried flowers, toffee, sea spray, fennel, and spiced citrus.
👄  The palate is full and textured, with orange marmalade elements, caramelised onions, fennel, sultanas, and the most lovely fresh acidity standing in stark contrast to the oxidative elements.
🔬 Wine of Origin Swartland. Fruit sourced from South Africa’s oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines (dryland farmed since 1965).
💸💸 ZAR350.00 (as of July 2021)
