#133 Altydgedacht Barbera 2018

Barbera goes large in the New World
One of the bolder examples of South African Barbera. It sits right at home floating on South Africa’s reputation for full-bodied, rich, ripe red wines, with an unabashed new world slant.
👃🏼 Cherry, plum, hint of oak, moist earth, mint, cedar wood, with savoury game. Fairly open.
👄 Ripe black cherries with tannins that are super silky. Some lovely spice on the tail. Red cherry acidity emerges slowly, and lingers like a poodle at a pastrami bar.
🔬The estate is situated in Durbanville (usually known for its Sauvignon Blanc) and the fruit is harvested from 26-year-old vines that are dry land farmed and then fermented in a combination of open top fermenters and stainless steel tanks. Matured in barrel for 15 months (30% American oak)
