The Calitzdorp Posse over the Calitzdorp Massive
🗺 Named after the Gamka River, which runs through the Calitzdorp district, this white blend is actually NOT a Wine of Origin Calitzdorp, but rather features fruit from Stellenbosch, Swartland, Elgin & the Klein Karoo. So more than being an expression of the site, it is an expression of the skills of BoPlaas winemaker Margaux Nel. Showing that the Klein Karoo isn’t just a hotbed of fascinating cultivars and unusual site specific wines, but also the home of some very savvy winemakers.

🔬 The wine is a blend of Verdelho from Boplaas (the first time this cultivar is featuring in the blend), with larger portions of Chardonnay, Viognier, Grenache blanc & Chenin Blanc.

The Chenin is naturally fermented in barrel using spontaneous fermentation, whereas all the other components are barrel fermented using “neutral yeasts”.

All components are matured for 9 months in old French Oak.
