The Goddess awakens
🍷Deceptively light in colour, this wine is an explosion of berry, floral and spice aromas, with quite intense strawberry and cherry fruit that one would not expect, given its visual cues.
📣 QUALIFIER:
Nerello Mascalese grapes are very much like Pinot Noir – thinner skins, with fine tannins, so when I talk about Nerello Mascalese skins being “much thicker”, I mean this as being relative to the much thinner skinned Nerello Cappuccio.
🍇 The blend is a mix of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio from the Etna DOC, up at an altitude of 750m ASL. Harvested from vines grown in those famous volcanic soils. If you want to know more about diurnal range, we discuss this some more in our video on the FRAM Cinsault 2017.
🔬Grapes are crushed and fermented in stainless steel, after which the wine is pressed off the skins and matured in a combination of concrete tanks and oak barrels.
