=====================
Chenin Blanc is indigenous to the Loire, and people have been planting it and farming it there since at least the first century AD. But there is something undeniably magical about the way Chenin Blanc has evolved on the African continent, and as a result, about the way that South African Chenin blanc tastes in the glass. In this video, we will explore this topic in a little more depth.
If you have yet to sign up for your Monthly HanDrinksSolo Wine Subscription then you’ll have to hunt this wine down in your own to be able to connect the info to the wine in the bottle. But until then, I’ve left you some tasting notes and the winemaking technical specs.

TASTING NOTES
👃🏼 The nose on this guy is off the charts. There are clouds of chamomile tea, chalk, maroela fruit, touch of tropical mango, lemon blossom, and loads of wild herby floral good things. Then there is a note that I associate with both Testalonga Chenin and Mother rock Chenins, which is a slightly softer sweeter yellow apple note…which seems to be more prevalent in- oxidatively made wines, OR in wines made with no sulphur additions.
—
👄 It all starts out as a supremely bracing citric lightning bolt of a wine, that is has this wildly high acidity, but as the wine warms in your mouth it opens up, revealing these other layers of fresh cut slices of nectarine with white peach and even a touch of passion fruit, which is unexpected.
TECHNICAL SPECS
🔬Wine of origin Swartland. 100% Chenin Blanc. All grapes are farmed according to organic farming principles, and the winemaking is kept things very simple: no additions (be it yeast, or acid, or – in this case – sulphur).
