Today’s Wine of the Day is the Wade Bales Regional Series Constantia White Blend 2022—the second wine in Wade’s three-bottle-deep Regional Series lineup.

Last time we featured a Wade Bales wine, we explored the role of the négoçiant—a role that’s virtually nonexistent in South Africa… unless you count Wade, which you absolutely should.

This time, we’re zooming in on what makes the Regional Series itself so compelling—and why this Constantia White Blend is a rare example of a collaborative wine that actually works.

TASTING NOTES

👃🏼 On the nose, it opens with ripe tropical notes—mango, peach, and juicy kiwi—lifted by a whiff of elderflower. Then come the deeper tones: butterscotch, roasted pineapple, and a flicker of dark caramel.

👄 it drinks almost like elderflower tonic. A sweet, floral lift up front… followed by that classic bitter grapefruit snap.
Then comes fresh pineapple, a touch of peppery spice—and that creamy butterscotch rolls back in on the finish.
