Beaumont Family Wines Mourvedre 2014

HANSCORE: 17/25
This wine is a little like Jean-Claude flick; simple yet satisfying. But it certainly won’t keep you awake at night wondering, “who am I?”
👃🏼 The vanguard aromas carry delightfully open blackberry, sugar plum, blueberry, thyme & oak notes.
👄 Palate is moderately weighted, with tannins that have used their time well in the bottle. Sweeter plum fruit is balanced by juicy black cherry acidity and a subtle savory element.
Not the lengthiest of wines, but a very enjoyable example of the cultivar.
🔬 Grapes are cold-soaked for two days, and then warm-femented (28 – 30 degrees) in an open-top fermenter, with punchdowns every two hours.
Wine of Origin: Botriver. Winemaker: Sebastian Beaumont.
💰 ZAR240.00 (as of July 2018)
