Ridgeback Estate African Ember SGMV 2015
The small dog with a big heart
Ridgeback are a small estate, with large ideals. They have set their minds to produce a limited number of wines, but the quality of each wine that they release is superb. This African Ember is about as close as they’re ever going to get to an “entry level” bottling…which is to say, not close as all.

This cellar-aged red blend is from the famed 2015 vintage, and is made up of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Viognier. The Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre were fermented separately in open top stainless steel fermenters. All red wines underwent MLF and 13 months of ageing in second- and third-fill barrels. Viognier grapes were crushed, pressed and fermented in 400 litre French oak barrels.
