#156 Feudi di Santa Croce Megale Negroamaro Salento IGP 2018

New World wines from Old World vines
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Feudo di Santa Croce is a family-owned estate situated on the Salento Peninsula (if your Italian geography is a little rusty, this is the “heel” in the boot shape formed by the outline of the country of Italy).
🗺 The Salento Peninsula is the premier grape growing region in Puglia, and it’s relatively hot and dry mediterranean climate delivers some delightfully full-bodied, fruit-forward wines. While the region has been known for a long time as a centre of bulk wine, there are an increasing number of producers shifting their focus from quantity to quality.
🍇 While Primitivo di Manduria is probably the better known of Puglia’s approved red cultivars, the cultivar, Negroamaro forms the backbone of some of the regions top wines; especially when blended with grapes like Malvasia Nera.
