#184 Cavalli Estate Cremello 2020 (white blend)

If the Guardians of the Galaxy made wine

The Cavalli Cremello 2020 (mostly chenin blanc and chardonnay) is quite exceptional. Here are my thoughts in both written and video form.

🗺 Stellenbosch’s Cavalli Estate houses an award-winning restaurant, an art gallery, a stable full of race-winning horses, and more than their share of heart-winning winelands vistas, but with the purple patch that they’re on right now, their wines are the things you should be paying attention to right now.

🔬This Cremello White Blend is a Chenin Blanc-fronted blend, strongly supported by Chardonnay and given a citrus boost by a small component of Verdelho fermented in plastic eggs and old oak. In contrast to the Verdelho, the Chenin is fermented in a combination of new oak, 2nd-fill and 3rd-fill barrels, and the Chardonnay is matured in a mix of new oak and 2nd-fill barrels. The final components are left on their lees for 12 months before bottling.
Final Blend: 42% Chenin blanc, 30% Chardonnay, 15% Verdelho and 13% Viognier
