Sangio in search of the spirit of Pinot

This 100% Sangiovese is produced by La Vierge Wines, and uses fruit harvested from Babylon Farm up on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. Folks up on the ridge like to feel superior to those down in the valley, because it is a little colder, windier and downright more miserable up on the ridge…but boy does one get incredible acidity from the wines produced there.
.

Tasting notes

👃🏼This little beauty carries quite an expressive nose of raspberry, cherry sherbert, and strawberry, complicated by slightly moodier hints of mediterranean herbs.
👄 On the palate, it channels the hemel-en-Aarde spirit of Pinot Noir quite comprehensively. A light, lithe slightly lean expression of the grape framed by super clean, clear lines of cherry acidity, softened by a seam of sweeter strawberry fruit beneath it. Mouth is left watering for days. This is a significant departure from the traditional expression of Italy’s Tuscany.
