=====================

More than just a pretty face

Wildeberg was a brand before it was a wine. The result of some careful marketing from international wine outfit, Boutinot Wines. But don’t let that fool you into thinking that there is no substance behind the well crafted image. These guys are serious about making high quality wines, and in this video, I explore just three of the many reasons why the winemaking team is well worth following closely.

Tasting notes

👃🏼On the nose there is such a lovely blend of herbs and fruit and stones and flowers and oak. Upfront hints of rooibos tea, and flint and dusty gravel slowly opens up into some peach fruit, and home made lemonade.
👄 On the palate, this wine starts out super tight, but one thing that no one can argue about is that it is in NO SHORT supply of acid! Woowee! And after you’ve adjusted to that epic laser through the core, you begin to notice that the live wire acid is wrapped in this soft, almost pulpy citrus fruit and waxy lime pith elements (texture that, for the most part comes from the Semillon).
Of course the fact that I opened this yesterday, means today I’m getting these way more extroverted notes of riper citrus, apricot, and very gentle hints of smoky oak and a touch of butterscotch.
