=====================

Black Ops and NDAs

Cape Collective is a collaboration between wine Distributor Dane Raath, award-winning designer Janneman Solms, and some of the finest winemakers in South Africa.
The trouble with some of these collaborations is that they can only be formed under a veil of secrecy, so a great deal of the epic story behind these wines gets lost amidst the NDAs and midnight deliveries  on the back of unmarked trucks.
So, in the absence of a lovely story about vineyards, and a winemaker, and his dog, and the bokkeveld shale soils…we’re replacing all that with a little time spent talking about the chemistry behind the crazy aromas one gets off a decent cool climate riesling.
And if you have yet to sign up for your own HanDrinksSolo Wine Subscription, then you’ll have to settle for reading my tastings notes, and using your imagination.

Tasting notes

👃🏼 – Peach sherbet, homemade lemonade, bees wax, lemon blossom,
👄 – Palate carries some crazy tart grippy green apple skin and citrus acidity that just climbs and climbs. The fruit is a combo of oranges, kiwi fruit, apples, and some slight candied lemon notes, not dissimilar to the lemonade elements we got on the nose.
🔬 – Alc 12.35% | Total Acidity 7.6g | Residual Sugar 5.0g | pH 3.0 |
