DA Hanekom Family Wines Langrug Malbec 2018
When Malbec grows up…
A supremely weighty, regal example of South African Malbec. The mouthfeel is more velvety than Prince’s tuxedo, and it somehow manages to be supremely ripe, without being flabby.
If South Africa is going to add to the global conversation around what Malbec should be, I hope this is the sort of wine that speaks loudest for us.
Fruit is from North-facing slopes in Durbanville. Fermented in open-top fermenters, and then matured in French oak barrels for 18 months.
