====================

This video starts out as a review of The Wolf, the Woman & Swartland Rosé 2021…but serves a dual purpose, as it is also a little note on how to use the term “Minerality” correctly!

With regards to her wine, winemaker Jolandie Fouché has people lining up around the block for both her Chenin Blanc, and this exceedingly elegant Grenache Noir rosé, and more recently her insane Syrah.

Swartland Rosé is a thing

Given that Jolandie has spent time working for Kloovenburg estate in Riebeek Kasteel, it’s no surprise that she has chosen to work with a region that she knows for the Wolf & Woman project.

🔬 The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Swartland, and is fermented using native yeasts only. All fruit is pressed as whole bunches, and fermented in old 500-litre French oak barrels, which explains the supremely light and elegant colour (whole bunch pressing allows almost no skin/juice contact, and Grenache Noir is already slightly deficient on the colour department).
